End the Operational Tax

For CTO / IT DirectorsFor Network Architects

Stop paying the compounding cost of fragmented operating systems. One EOS image across data center, campus, and WAN — one mental model, one set of automation, one source of truth.

Unified EOS
The Fragmentation Tax

Multiple OSes is a hidden line item

Legacy vendor strategies often run different software trains on different hardware roles. The result is configuration drift, security exposure, and prolonged troubleshooting cycles. For the IT director, fragmentation kills agility. For the engineer, it means constant manual intervention. Arista's answer is architectural, not bolted-on: a single, programmable binary across the entire portfolio. State-sharing through a centralized in-memory database transforms the network into a programmable asset — and supports designs ranging from 27,648 10/25 GbE servers on a 7260CX-64 two-tier fabric, up to 110,000+ 10G servers on 7050X ultra-large-scale topologies, and 4,608 × 800 GbE hosts on 7700R4 non-blocking AI fabrics — all running the same single EOS image.

EOS Modular Integrity

Reliability designed in, not bolted on

All EOS processes run in protected memory and exchange data via the Sysdb in-memory database. Failure of one process can't crash another.

Stateful Fault Containment

Process failures stay isolated to their memory space. No system-wide crash from a single component fault.

Stateful Fault Repair

Failed processes auto-restart and recover their last state from Sysdb — usually before the issue impacts traffic.

Live software patching

Apply specific bug fixes or security patches to individual processes — no full system reboot, no scheduled outage.

Advanced Event Management

Automate tasks and custom responses based on real-time state changes. The fabric reacts faster than the on-call engineer.
UFT Flexibility

Same hardware, profiled to the workload

The Unified Forwarding Table dynamically allocates L2/L3 resources to match the topology. UFT Mode 0 gives you 136K MACs and 8K IPv4 host routes for high-density Layer 2 domains. UFT Mode 4 shifts to 8K MACs and 104K IPv4 host routes for dense L3 host-routing environments. Same chassis. Different role. No new procurement cycle when the workload evolves.

Operational Excellence

SDCN: automation that frees engineering for strategy

Software Driven Cloud Networking turns day-2 ops from manual to automated. Engineers work on architecture, not change tickets.

Zero Touch Provisioning

Loads images and configurations from a central repository. Site expansion measured in hours, not weeks.

LANZ + streaming telemetry

Real-time GPB-encoded streaming events identify micro-burst sources before they impact application performance.

SSU + ASU

Smart System Upgrade and Accelerated Software Update insert and remove devices intelligently. Software updates without impacting the wider fabric.

93%+ efficient PSUs

Tool-less rails, color-coded airflow, redundant fans. The hardware design respects what 2 AM in the data center actually feels like.
